Last month, a small group of passionate theater volunteers gathered at Cussewago Square, inside the wonderful, saw-dusted building that will one day be the home of our respective organizations: Meadville Community Theatre and French Creek Community Theatre. We wandered about the bright, cavernous space with its rustic brick walls and striking design, carefully skirting construction equipment and piles of lumber, armed with lists of practical needs and new dreams.
One day, every nook and cranny will have its identity. Over here might be the Ticket Booth, and over there, the Rehearsal Space, and the Green Room. What about costume and prop storage? Dressing rooms? Where should we build sets?
One day, seats will fill the cavernous space. Actors will step into the light and invite audiences to follow them on journeys that only live theatre can offer. There will be laughter, and applause, and new generations will fall in love with theater.
One day, it will all take shape.
But not now. Not yet. Everything lies ahead.
Now is the magic time to dream and to plan, both humbled and thrilled by what lies ahead for our theater companies, and for our community!
