Meadville Community Theatre’s next show is Rope, to be performed November 5-14, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2:00pm.
Alfred Hitchcock fans out there, this one is for you! There were many television adaptations of Patrick Hamilton’s play, but Hitchcock’s is the only film version. It is also called Rope. Character names and the time period were changed, but the original premise is the same. MCT is excited to bring you its season’s next show, Rope.
The murder itself, and the murderers, is the unique aspect of this play because they are known to the audience from the start. Set in 1929, two university students kill a fellow student and hide his body in a trunk. They proceed to host a dinner party. All is going well until suspicions are raised as to the contents of the trunk upon which dinner is served. As tension grows, will the murderers crack under the pressure and confess their crime?
MCT’s Production
Director Geoff Hall has already selected his cast and they are currently rehearsing. Some cast members will be instantly recognizable, while others haven’t graced our stage in a long time. MCT is happy to welcome them all back to our stage!
Our criminals, Wyndham Brandon and Charles Granillo, are being played by Jason Sakal and Stefan Potts. Both are returning to the MCT stage after some time away and MCT is delighted that they are back. Joining the party are Dave Neal as Rupert Caddell, Eric Mountjoy as Sir Johnstone Kently, Traci Andrews as Mrs. Debham, Alicia Greathouse as Leila, Dan Winston as Kenneth and Mitchell King as Sabot.
May we suggest getting dinner yourself, and then stopping by MCT for this wickedly dark thriller? It’s the perfect post-Halloween entertainment.
