A True Theater Lover

I recently had a wonderful conversation with Alice Dalmaso, an MCT volunteer and a serious theater goer. Her favorite show memory is when she paid $4.50 to attend the Broadway play Hair the summer of 1969, especially when she recalls spending well over $100 for NYC shows this past spring.

How do you support local theater?

These days, mainly by attending shows. We go to productions throughout the region and occasionally to New York. Even student shows; we just attend a wonderful high school musical in Erie. I also still enjoy volunteering.

What have you done at shows?

I am a total ham actor. I have also done a great deal of costuming. Maybe my greatest talent is dancing; I won a couple of competitions at the Charity Follies. The prizes for one were Spam and a toaster; it was a USO themed show.

Do you have a favorite MCT production?

The recent rendition of Inherit the Wind at the courthouse was wonderful. I was actually at the original production in 1971.

What do you think is special about MCT?

There is a great deal of theatrical talent in this community and MCT provides an important outlet for them. We are so fortunate to have so many performances for theater supporters like myself to choose from. I hope local theater goers would faithfully spread the word of any plays and go that extra step to encourage a few friends to attend performances with them.
